Podocarpus Elatus, also known as plum pine, Illawarra plum, daalgall or gidneywallums, is native to the sub-tropical Eastern part of Australia. The fruit has a plum-pine flavour and was traditionally eaten by Indigenous Australians. Illawarra plum is a great skincare ingredient because it has a super high content of anthocyanins (cyanidin 3-glucoside & pelargonidin
3-glucoside) and a really high antioxidant capacity.
The Burdekin plum grows in the North-eastern part of Australia. The tree produces large, black, pumpkin-shaped fruits. It was originally referred to by Indigenous Australians as ‘Noongi’ or ‘Rancooran’.
Burdekin plum extract also has a high concentration of the anthocyanin cyanidin 3-glucoside. It’s also packed with vitamin C. The combination of these antioxidant compounds helps to slow down the rate of free radical damages to skin.
